Following the tradition of architecture as a conglomeration of various design fields – engineering, theory, art, and recently, computation – the challenge of this book is to present a concept that, like architecture, is a unifying theme for many diverse disciplines. I am about halfway through this book and am betting that the best is to come.

Advanced Research in Virtual and Rapid Early algorithmic buildings will probably be spectacular failures, and it is up to Terzidis to convince me otherwise.
The implication for design at least early in the book is that seeking the radically new or novel is futile in the face of a deterministic and causal universe…to caricature: Jon marked it as to-read Jul 08, Maybe I like this book because I have similar opinions and interests as the author. The book ends with an epi multi logue discussion of the concepts presented in the book and a number of interesting departures, contradictions and refutations.
At the outset, he presents many structural supports on which to frame his argument, but little actual architecture. Its good enough to keep as reference material. John Haake rated it liked it Jun algorithhmic, This unique volume challenges the reader to tackle all these complex questions and more. On the one hand, if you accept his claim that the computer can handle a mode of thought completely foreign and inaccessible to humans, you must dispense to a certain degree with the notion of purely human agency within the design process.
